LG has taken the tin-foil off a clamshell version of its metal-clad slider phone, Shine. It also introduced a new version of the original Shine with an added digital satellite TV receiver.

The clamshell is dubbed Shine Folder TV. It too has a DMB tuner on board and a 2.2in, 320 x 240, 262,144-colour display to watch programmes on. And make the occasional phone call. There's a 1.1in, 65,536-colour LCD on the outer casing, right next to a two-megapixel camera. Shine Folder TV has 512MB of memory built in.

The Shine TV packs in a gigabyte of memory into the same 1.4cm casing as the standard sliding Shine, give or a take a tenth of a millimetre or two, and is much the same size as the closed Shine Folder TV. Both handsets contain retractable DMB aerials.

Initially aimed at the South Korean market, the Shine Folder could yet make its way to Europe and beyond, but there's no word yet on when.
