CEO swaps, stagnant shares and scandal behind it, HP appears to have reached retirement age for some of its veterans. Last week, HP Labs director Dick Lampman announced that he would depart in 2007, and this week CFO Bob Wayman said that he'll vanish at year end.

Lampman - "Nightlight" to his friends - has been beavering away at HP since 1971. He worked on a wide variety of projects, including the PA-Wide Word effort that turned into Itanium. HP's CTO Shane Robison has started a search to find replacement. Quirky brains need apply.

Wayman - "Bram Stoker's CFO" to his friends - joined HP in 1969 and took on the financial chief spot in 1984. He's threatened retirement on a few occasions, only to be pulled back into service during HP's rocky last few years. He served as interim CEO after HP whacked Carly Fiorina.

Wayman will be replaced by company treasurer and SVP Cathie Lesjak. ®
