IBM hauled in software vendor Vallent today, in its latest addition to its network management portfolio.

Vallent's software will join IBM's Tivoli Netcool line, providing network performance and service quality management for a range of fixed and wireless equipment and devices. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed

The deal builds on IBM's $865m acquisition of Micromuse. Vallent provides monitoring and reports problems such as dropped calls and network bottlenecks. Micromuse added voice, video and IP management to IBM's capabilities.

Aside from technology, Vallent gives IBM's Tivoli operations access to more than 200 customers, including KPN, China Mobile, Lucent and Motorola.®
