Much reviled Russian music site allofmp3.com has been hit by a Danish court ruling which forces internet service provider Tele2 to block access to the site.

The Copenhagen City court ruled that Tele2 must do its best to ensure its subscribers cannot access the site. AllofMP3, or iTuneski as its known round here, insists it is legal but various international royalty groups insist it is not.

The case was brought by the Danish wing of the IFPI.

IFPI Denmark's chairman Jens-Otto Paludan said: "This decision eliminates any doubt that people may have about the illegality of allofmp3.com.

"AllofMP3 is an illegal service, which cheats artists and producers of millions of kroner every year. With this judicial decision we can, at last, bring one of the most provoking pirate services’ activities in this country to an efficient standstill."

A spokesman for the IFPI in the UK said it was a local action but could well have wider implications.

Tele2 said it will appeal the ruling.

AllofMP3 was suffering some downtime yesterday but seems to be back to life today. It hit back last week after Visa and Mastercard said they would no longer take payments for the site.®
