Microsoft has moved its key security division into its Windows group as part of an ongoing reorganisation due to come into effect after the completion of development work on Windows Vista.

Redmond's security, trustworthy computing, and engineering excellence teams will be amalgamated into a single trustworthy computing group within the software giant's Windows Core Operating System division, headed by Jon DeVaan. The group will be run by Scott Charney, the current VP of trustworthy computing.

Ben Fathi, who recently succeded Mike Nash as head of Microsoft's security technology unit, will move over to lead the development group within the reorganised Windows Core Operating System division.

The reshuffle is explained in an excerpt of a message from Redmond published by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. ®
