It's national Family Learning Week, and to celebrate that fact BT is relaunching its Internet Rangers website to encourage more youngsters to help us old codgers to understand this new internet thing.

Apparently, we need all the help we can get. BT reckons that almost a third of parents and grandparents have been taught or encouraged to surf by a child between 13 and 16 years.

BT will be naming an Internet Ranger of the Year - nominations close on 23 November, who will get a tour of the fastest internet cafe in the world: which would be more impressive if it wasn't in Cornwall.

But a visit to Goonhilly Satellite Station is likely to impress the kind of child who spends their free time planning their parents' lessons and marking their homework (both available for download from the Internet Rangers website).

Entry is limited to under-16s, so no trying to get childhood revenge by locking your parents in their room until the homework is completed. ®
