Biscit completes V21 swallow

Scrapping for crumbs

Biscit has completed the acquisition of rival ISP V21.

Biscit gets 33,000 new punters for its trouble, which it'll be trying to flog its own combined broadband and voice package to. When the deal was first announced, Biscit had only 6,000 on its books.

Biscit CEO Hugh Paterson said: "The principal changes V21 customers will experience is greater choice in voice and superfast broadband services, and quality customer support from Biscit's in-house London teams instead of a call centre in India."

We won't be shocked if Biscit is itself taken over sometime soon. With broadband increasingly a utility-type service, it'll be a carve-up for the big players, with room for a few small niche operations at the other end of the market. Neither Arthur nor Martha, mid-sized outfits like Pipex, Tiscali and Biscit don't fit that picture. ®
