Formac has added three 19inch TFT displays to its range. These fall under a new category of Performance models which is added to the existing range of Professional models.

The Gallery 1900 TNX is available in black, white or silver, or rather the bezel and two tabs on the stand are in the stated colour, but the overall impression is rather more inconspicuous than you might expect.

The resolution of the 1900 TNX is 1,280 x 1,024, contrast ratio is 700:1 and the brightness rating is 280cd/m2. That's very much par for the course with a 19inch TFT, however, the 3ms grey-to-grey response time is a touch swifter than the more common 4ms or 8ms.

We are a little concerned by the claimed viewing angle of 150 degrees in both the horizontal and vertical planes as many displays manage 170 degrees and the extra few degrees makes a significant difference.

The interface is DVI with a single cable carrying USB, power, and the video signal to the monitor. We've seen that approach with the wonderful Apple Cinema display and note a certain Apple-esque look to the 1900 TNX, although Formac claims that its unique hinge design allows flexible adjustment of viewing angle.

We are told that the new displays are available from £233 (inc VAT), but for some reason Formac has chosen to sell them at £237.21 in its own online store. ®
