Bargain basement ISP pays for poor customer service
E7even, the unpronouncable broadband ISP, is no longer providing its customers with internet connections.
On logging in to their account on the Maidstone, Kent ISP's website, customers are offered trite advice that E7even will no longer provide any service.
The Register was contacted by disgruntled E7even customer Dan on Saturday:
It seems those of us who thought we were getting a good deal are shit out of luck today, as E7even has ceased operating literally over night. Those of us who had sniffed out the seemingly cheapest broadband around woke up this morning to find no outbound connection on our ADSL, the only thing accessible being [the] disturbingly sparse sign-up page.
The rather less fly-by-night looking EzeeDSL, part of the 186k group, has been installed to offer the easy way out to E7even customers. EzeeDSL is operating a walled garden where the connectionless can get back online if they cough up for a new account.
A FAQ on the 186k site explains:
"Unfortunately, any agreement made with E7even UK Limited is between you and them and we cannot intervene. If you want to reactivate your broadband today without any more down time you will need to enter into a new agreement with EzeeDSL.
"Unfortunately, we cannot honour any agreement you may have previously had, nor can we help you with claiming back any payment you have already made to E7even UK Limited."

Punters wanting to join an alternative ISP face a wait until 14 July, when the E7even service officially ends. EzeeDSL said it cannot generate migration codes.
E7even offered some of the cheapest broadband on the market, but fell foul of Ofcom regulators and online forums bemoaning its terrible customer service record.
The phones were not being answered at E7even this morning. ®
