world cup cameraphone contest

Lawrence Duru took this shot on a Nokia 8800 on the Hohenhollernring in Cologne after Italy beat Australia. Expensive and slick the 8800 may be, but it's only got a 500,000 pixels' worth of image capture ability, and it shows.

Don't forget, we're looking for your best World Cup pics taken on a mobile phone. You can find out how to enter here, and don't forget to check back here to see if your shots make it onto the scoreboard. ®

world cup camera phone compo winner

Top marks to reader Tim Moriarty and chums, who hopped over to Hamburg even though their own team, Ireland, wasn't playing. That's the spirit, lads. But let's not forget the reason for the contest: Tim's pic was taken on his Nokia 6230i, equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera.

"Some people looked very confused when they saw Irish colours," says Tim. "Everyone else in their intoxicated state thought we were Mexican! Must be the green...

"Of couse, you'll notice the green is very like the shade used in the Reg Hardware!"

Indeed. Well done, Tim - some Reg goodies will be on their way to you soon.
