BT has signed up Verisign to provide mobile content services for its BT Fusion batphone.

The services, which include a mobile media portal, are to be developed for new Wi-Fi enabled handsets due to launch on the BT Fusion service later this year. The handsets will sport content such as branded Java games, video downloads, and ringtones.

BT's Fusion batphone is the mobile that thinks it's a landline phone, or is it the other way round? We can never remember. Anyhow, back in February the UK incumbent revealed that 13,000 people had signed up for BT Fusion and that numbers were growing by around 2,000 a week.

Last month, Verisign (which owns Crazy Frog creator Jamba) bought mobile content and billing company m-Qube for $250m. ®
