Bush denies human-induced climate change

Genius from the Crawford school of climatology

George W Bush has indicated he doesn't believe human activity is causing climate change. The President made his latest dismissal of the scientific consenus to an Australian journalist at a Whitehouse press briefing.

Question: There's a virtual consensus that the planet is warming...and I suppose I want to know, what is your plan?

Bush: We - first of all, there is - the globe is warming. The fundamental debate: is it manmade or natural. Put that aside.

"Put that aside", eh? So he accepts global warming, but doesn't reckon its manmade. Super.

Confusingly, the Pres went on to eulogise the emmission-slashing benefits of nuclear power, hybrid cars and bioethanol. So his position seems to be that anthropogenic greenhouse gases don't cause the warming, but by cutting them he can stop climate change.

We're not following your logic there, George. ®
