Want your fifth-generation iPod to run for longer than two hours when you're playing videos? Accessory specialist Belkin reckons it has the answer: a bolt-on rechargeable battery pack that the company claims boosts the player's playback duration by 300 per cent.

Belkin said its TunePower adds up to six hours of extra playback time to the two the iPod's built-in battery provides. The unit comes with a pair of clips, one for the 30GB iPod, the other for the 60GB version. It's not perhaps the most attractive add-on, but if you're on a long plane flight and you want to watch videos on your iPod for as long as possible, that's a small price to pay.

Speaking of prices, the TunePower is expected to retail for $80 (£46) when in ship in North America at the end of the month. There's no word yet on UK availability. The price includes an AC adaptor, so unlike the iPod it doesn't rely on a handy USB port for recharge power. ®
