A US man has been charged with releasing Trojan horse malware onto an IRC channel. Richard Honour, 30, from Washington state, is accused of using unnamed malware on a chat room called DarkMyst in an attempt to obtain confidential banking and identity information, The Seattle Post reports.

Honour was indicted for distributing computer viruses on 23 February by a grand jury in Missouri prior to his arrest on 28 February. He faces up to 10 years imprisonment and fines of up to $250,000 if convicted. ®
