Ergo preps pink PC for breast cancer charity
Benefits Genesis Appeal
You've seen the pink Motorola Razr V3 mobile phone. You've eyed the pink T-Mobile MDA Compact II PDA. Now gape at the pink Ergo Ensis S notebook - the latest item of rose-hued technology to be offered up to UK consumers.
This time it's all for a good cause - ten per cent of the laptop's VAT-exclusive £575 price tag goes to the Genesis Appeal breast cancer charity.
The machine is based on a 1.4GHz Intel Celeron M 360 processor backed by 256MB of memory, a 40GB hard drive and a DVD-ROM/CD-RW optical drive. Ergo is also offering optional upgrades on all these components. The machine has a 15in display, four USB 2.0 ports, a 56Kbps modem, 10/100Mbps Ethernet and an 802.11b/g wireless network adaptor. The basic cost includes 12 months' back-to-base warranty cover and weekday delivery in the UK.
Manchester-based Genesis is raising money to build Europe's first Breast Cancer Prevention Centre. The UK facility will provide screening and early diagnosis facilities, and run education programmes to help women avoid the disease in the first place. The charity also funds research into techniques to spot the disease as early as possible and to find those women more susceptible to the illness. ®
