That whale-wetting watering can in fullWe needn't have worried about the poor old British Divers Marine Life Rescue group (BDMLR) who - as we reported yesterday - were facing 300 quid in parking fines and around another £5k in expenses related to the heroic but ultimately ill-fated mission to save Wally the bottle-nosed whale.

The reason? The enterprising charity has put the plastic watering can used to moisten the unfortunate cetacean up for grabs on eBay - and as we publish this the bidding has reached £8k with a good eight days left on the auction.

Anyone who doubts the authenticity of the watering can should rest assured that it is indeed the said receptacle as the picture here shows. Oh yes, and the parking fines against the group have now been dropped in the face of mounting public outrage. Quite right too. ®
