NTL - which is to merge with the UK's other cableco Telewest - managed to trim its third quarter losses even after a dip in revenues, the UK cableco reported yesterday.

Takings for the three months to September were £482.7m - down 3.2 per cent compared to the same period last year - thanks to a fall in revenues at the cableco's business division, while consumer revenues remained flat at £377m.

Net loss for Q3 fell from £95.6m to £52.1m following earlier cost-cutting measures.

The cableco also added 277,400 broadband punters over the summer bringing its total number to 1.72m.

Oh, and it also reckons it's on target to make its video-on-demand service available to some 600,000 viewers by the end of the year. ®
