BT has finally managed to reveal key details about its money-off promo aimed at local loop unbundling operators (LLUO) migrating users onto new unbundled services.

Last week the UK's dominant telco announced plans to cut the cost of migrating broadband users onto unbundled phone lines. The promo offer kicks off on July 1 and means that the wholesale cost of migrating punters onto unbundled lines from its own wholesale broadband products will fall 42 per cent from £34.86 to £20.00 (ex VAT).

However, while the former monopoly was making a song and dance about its generous offer, it was unable to clarify its position that the discount was only available to LLU operators migrating customers "in bulk per exchange".

At the time a spokeswoman for the monster telco told us that the company had yet to decide what consituted a bulk order and that it was "currently negotiating with the industry".

Today, El Reg received the following from BT: "The definition of bulk migration is the multiple migration of BT Wholesale Ipstream or Datastream customers to LLU with no change of Service Provider. This must take place in a single exchange (one batch) using a project managed service - ie the total numbers and timings to be agreed in advance between BT and the LLUO. The transfer must be completed in the shortest practical time."

In other words, the discount applies to the migration of a batch of orders from a single ISP to be done in one hit - and just as long as BT gives it the nod. Clear now? ®
