Silicon Image takes up the Slack

Gentlemen, we salute that surname

Silicon Image, a California-based outfit dedictated to "multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media" last week earned itself a place in the Vulture Central Notable Appointments Hall of Fame by hiring the deliciously-named Darrel Slack as its CFO.

Yes, hot on the heels of the news that Bluetooth car kit manufacturer Parrot had married Kipper, we're sure that Reg readers share our excitement of the prospect of Slack putting his feet up on his new desk in Sunnyvale.

For the record, Mr Slack has just completed a stint at Centillium Communications. Before that, he was with Credit Suisse First Boston after 10 years' service with the US Air Force. Said Slack: "I am excited about joining Silicon Image and contributing to the implementation of its secure digital content delivery strategy. I believe this strategy positions us for future growth and profitability."

Slack replaces Bob Gargus as Silicon Image's CFO. We do not know where Gargus is currently fiddling with his desk tidy, and because he does not have an amusing surname, we do not intend to waste valuable time pursuing the matter. ®

We believe that our new "hilarious surnames" strand has a future with those readers who share our juvenile sense of humour. Accordingly, please forward all top-class appointments - it gives us a good excuse to avoid Monday morning "Company makes product", "Company sells product" and "Company makes profit from product" duty.
