Fujitsu and Fujitsu Siemens are junking their desktops PC brands for the professional market in favour of a new unified name worldwide.

Step forward ESPRIMO – yes, it’s ALL CAPS – the euphonious and vaguely Latinate name for a new line intended to deliver the same brand recognition as the companies’ LIFEBOOK notebook brand.

ESPRIMO incorporates a new product design which "creates a unifying look and feel, integrating the same design language for the whole PC line". No pictures or specs or prices yet, but the Japanese-German vendor says the ESPRIMO line is ergonomically sound, environmentally-friendly and easy on the ear – silent, even. Which is nice.

In Europe, Fujitsu Siemens will kick off ESPRIMO PCs which conform with Intel’s Stable Image Platform Program, meaning that corporates get a standardised hardware configuration for 12 months. According to the pitch this can "simplify PC infrastructure across the enterprise and lower total cost of ownership”. Intel has produced an online demo on the subject which you can find here ®.
