UK Mac reseller offers PowerBook G5 teaser

True to typo

Staffers at UK computer reseller and Mac specialist Micro Anvika are clearly far too enthusiastic for their own good - or at least attempting to score highly in this week's wishful thinking chart.

The dealer's current Mac Price Guide - issue 27, to be precise - features a very tempting offer. "Buy any PowerBook G5 and get iWorks 05 or JBL Creature 2.0 speakers for only £19.95!" page three of the brochure suggests.

Ah, if only.

Sadly, rather than proof of the existence of an as yet unannounced product, the brochure was simply evidence of a slip-fingered copywriter.

"Our guide's obviously proof-read by The Guardian*," one employee quipped when we popped in to one of Micro Anvika's Tottenham Court Road, London stores to pick up a spare PowerBook (G4, alas) mains adaptor.

"They'll be saying you can get a million songs on your iPod next," he added.

"Yeah, on the Shuffle," we suggested before making our excuses and leaving.

More likely, we'll see updates to the PowerBook line next month at the National Association of Broadcasters conference, a tipster tells MacRumors.com. The 17in PowerBook HD, it's suggested, offers a higher resolution screen than the current model's 1440 x 900, and presumably pitched at HD video editing.

iBook, iMac and eMac revisions may also be on cards, AppleInsider claims, with an iMac HD model said to be among them. ®

*A national UK newspaper with a reputation for printing an above average number of typographical errors on its pages. Not that El Reg has any rite to complane. Ahem. ®
