In brief eBay is spending $325m to increase its stake in South Korean online trading company Internet Auction. The purchases from institutional investors will see eBay increase its stake in Internet Auction from 62 per cent to 86 per cent.

eBay intends to buy the rest of the company in coming days. In coming weeks, it will make a tender offer for all remaining outstanding shares at the same price of 125,000 Korean Won per share ($108) as offered to the instititutions. It does not expect the deal to have an impact on third quarter earnings. ®
