Microsoft has axed 14 admin staff from its UK operation after making what it described as a "strategic business decision". Those affected - most of whom work at Microsoft's UK HQ in Reading - were told the bad news this morning.

In a statement, Stephen Harvey, director of People & Culture, Microsoft Ltd, said: "At Microsoft Ltd we have taken a strategic business decision to utilise previously allocated administration headcount, to roles focused on driving forward our business for the benefits of our customers and partners.

"As a result, the difficult decision will affect 14 people currently in administrative positions. This is understandably an upsetting time for those staff, with whom we are working with to help them with their next alternative role." ®
