Yahoo! is offering customers in the US free storage for photos taken with mobile phones. Yahoo! Mobile Photo Upload will work for any camera phone on any of the five major US networks. There is no charge and no limit on the number of photos stored, according to Reuters.

Customers of AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile USA and Verizon can all upload pictures straight from their phones to Yahoo! Photos. They will need to register the make and model of their phone with Yahoo!. AT&T charges $2.99 a month plus normal usage charges.

Customers of AT&T and Sprint can also download pictures onto their phones, according to wireless.newsfactor.com. This will allow US subscribers to send photos between different networks, with fewer of the interoperability problems that make it so difficult at the moment. ®
