A hard-hitting ad campaign warning about the dangers of paedophiles 'grooming' young victims online has been launched by the Government.

It's hoped the public awareness campaign will encourage youngsters to think twice about who they're chatting to online.

This £700,000 campaign, featured on the radio, in cinemas and online, will also provide practical advice to help them stay safe on the Net and while using mobile phones.

Said Home Office Minister Paul Goggins: "We are very aware of the potential for paedophiles to abuse the trust that children place in them by attempting to 'groom' them through chat rooms.

"This campaign, along with the new grooming offence in the Sexual Offences Act, demonstrates the commitment of the Government to protecting our children from the insidious use of the Internet by paedophiles."

The campaign is also designed to give advice for parents so they can help their children stay safe online. ®
