Siebel Systems' Q4 was better than expected, with the CRM vendor comfortably surpassing its previously announced guidance on revenue and profit.

In preliminary results announced today, Siebel said total revenues for Q4, 2003 were approx $365m, with license revenues standing at approx $150m. Earnings per share are approx. eight cents a share.

In its most recent guidance for the quarter, published on October 15, 2003, Siebel management forecast revenues in the range of $335m - $355m, license revenues in the range of $120m - $140m, and EPS at $0.05-$0.06.

Net cash and investments stood at $2.02bn at December 31, with reductions for a couple of acquisitions (Upshot and Motiva) closed in the quarter offset by $40m of cash generated from operations.

Siebel says it expects to make no additional charges for last year's reorganisation, now completed, of the business into three three geographic operating units. reg;
