Lock Up DVD Jon – or we all lose our jobs
says Disgusted Reader
I read your article on Jon Lech Johansen unlocking iTunes. I hope they jail this bastard as soon as possible. Why on earth is it so much fun to steal music? He's ruining everything for the rest of us. I want to buy music and I want most of it to be made available online. Apple showed real innovation with the release of their music store and its great fun to use it. I happily spend 99 cents/song and so do millions of others. On the other hand I'm looking at music companies and their finances which are in shambles. They have all the right to protect their property as you protect your house and your family. You don't seem to care about the misery unresponsible behaviour like Johansen's (and your's for that matter as you are writing about it as if it were some funny game) brings to the life of thousands of employees at companies ranging from EMI to Warner Music.
Do you really think that you and Jon are fighting against corporate behemoths like Microsoft here? Think again (or start thinking for thatmatter). Some of these medium sized companies (like EMI) are now borderline junk. Their survival is not guaranteed. Another couple of thousand employees will be fired soon at Warner Music mostly due to the ongoing pirating of music. Very funny, indeed, great stuff !... in the end Microsoft will prevail with its mediocre Windows Media format, we will have much less to choose from and innovators like Apple will wither awa, you will have lost your job as I will have mine and we will buy most of our shit from China....
This outcome will be as much the fault of Johansen and his ugly entourage of semi criminal hackers and of wanna be trend setting tech journalist like you
Thank you very much indeed !
What shackles we choose for ourselves. With top music industry executives now advocating different regimes, to view the fight simply as one between Microsoft and Apple excludes many other possible outcomes. That was the last war, folks: this is a whole new war. ®
