We're delighted to announce that Intel has teamed up with top British designer Julien Macdonald to reinvent the humble laptop bag.

The Julien Macdonald laptop bag for Intel - lovely

Yes indeed, Macdonald has managed to "redefine the laptop bag as the luxury handbag for the 21st Century", while simultaneously "celebrating the growing role that technology plays in women’s lives" and creating "an essential accessory and object of desire for women across the world".

This paradigm-shifting leather and gold extravaganza is called The Julien Macdonald laptop bag for Intel, presumably to avoid possible confusion with The Zandra Rhodes laptop bag for Ghost or The Stella McCartney vegan PDA pouchette for Emporio Armani.

As befits this marriage of haute couture and high technology, the bag is designed to accomodate "the essentials for modern living: not only make-up and a cell phone but email contacts, electronic calendar and Internet access."

Intel's David Mitchell notes: "Today’s successful women aren’t usually interested in how technology works, they are interested in how it enhances their life. The Julien Macdonald laptop bag for Intel is designed to match the new type of laptop enabled by Intel Centrino mobile technology and the women that use it: smart, chic and connected."

Absolutely. The JMLBI is available right now to smart, chic and connected women at selected outlets and Intel events. Profits from sales will go to charity. And the price? Well, as the old saying goes: if you have to ask, you can't afford it. ®
