A former senior IT executive at Interbrew his sueing the company for wrongful dismissal after being sacked for donating secondhand PCs to schools and retiring staff.

Kevin Kelly, former head of IT services at the brewing giant, is claiming £500,000 in loss of salary and pension benefits. Kelly was accused by Interbrew of serious malpractice in his administration of the brewing giant's policy to give end-of-life PCs to retiring employees and schools.

According to a writ filed in the High Court, Kelly was asked by two such staffers for laptops. Interbrew had none in stock, so Kelly bought two units a piece from the company's computer refurb and recycling contractor. Kelly was also asked by his manager to donate used PCs to a school. Once again he went to the contractor to fulfil the request. In total, Kelly ordered 10 PCs at a cost to Interbrew of £3,500.

Kelly, who had worked for Interbrew for 12 years, was fired at the start of the year following an internal investigation, the Financial Mail on Sunday reports. ®
