BT Openworld has cut the cost of its business broadband services.

As of yesterday, companies currently using or signing up to Business packages - 500PLUS, Business 1000PLUS and Business 2000PLUS - will receive discounts of up to £240 per year. The deal applies to BT's low contention 20:1 products and covers Plug & Go, Engineer Install and Activation-only packages.

The cost of the Business 500PLUS service will be cut from £79.99 to £65.00 per month, Business 1000PLUS from £119.99 to £100.00 per month, and Business 2000PLUS from £149.99 to £130.00 per month.

All firms now signing up for any of the services will be charged the reduced fees, while existing users will see their quarterly bills cut on a pro rata basis from 1 September.

BT said it is cutting the prices "to boost broadband take-up across the SME community".

This price reduction for business DSL offerings follows hot on the heals of the telco's recent announcement that it is trialling a one megabit per second broadband ADSL connection aimed at the consumer market. ®
