ATI is driving a new budget multimedia video upgrade card into North America shops, just in time for Christmas.
Called the ALL-IN-WONDER VE, this 'value' PCI card sits at the bottom of the ATI range, retailing for US $129. This is a card for people who want to watch and record TV on their low-cost, low-mid spec PCs and if they're really daring, mess around with a little digital video editing.
ATI refers to the VE's "game graphics features", but the card is appropriate only for casual players. The ALL-IN-WONDER 9700 PRO is the ATI upgrade daddy for hardcore gamers. But this retails for a whopping $449. As we said, hardcore.
ATI has another'value' ALL-IN-WONDER card, the RADEON 7500, which carries an SRP of US $149. So it looks like some tweaking is needed for positioning (not price - the AGP support alone probably justifies the premium). ®
