Nvidia may be market leader in most areas of graphics chips, but when it comes to the notebook segments, it loses out on sales and performance to arch-rival ATI.

Today it addresses this power vacuum, with the GeForce 4200 Go, a mobile version of the desktop Ti 200 GPU, or graphics processing unit, as Nvidia insists on calling its chips. This incorporates support for AGP 8X, a claimed industry first for notebook graphics, proprietary anti-aliasing technology which is supposed to be "really, really good", and a "really, really fast" memory interface.

OK, we're paraphrasing. But surely this is preferable to the MOST HYPERBOLIC graphics chip designer in THE WORLD! Think we're exaggerating. Proving yet again that Americans have great difficulty in writing press releases, Nvidia's GeForce 4200 Go statement contains the following claims:

• unquestioned leader in mobile graphics performance
  
• like never before
  
• CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED (x2)
  
• the "perfect" GPU
  
• the catalyst which pushes the industry to unprecedented levels
  
  

In other words, it's really, really good and really, really fast.

The GeForce 4200 Go is almost, but not quite, ready to go. Notebooks featuring the chip should start shipping Q1, 2003. ®
