Zzzzz.... It is 6am, and The Register having fallen asleep with the radio on again, the BBC Radio 4 Today programme is dragging us fuzzily into the land of the living; up in the hourly headlines is the big Microsoft news. The truly wondrous Licensing 6-related results story? Er, no - Microsoft has apparently agreed to open its code to its competitors as part of a settlement with the US Department of Justice.

Um, wasn't that last year's news? As The Register's crack news team tears into another day, we check out other media for Microsoft stuff, where we find lots about the truly wondrous results etc but nothing about further developments in the antitrust trial. Judge CKK may be about to bark any minute (or not), but she seems not to have done so yet. Nor has there been any change in Microsoft's own legal news page since August. As we truffle, the Today programme hourly bulletins continue to roll by - the MS-DoJ settlement figures in the headlines again at 8am and 9am, and Today seems still not to have noticed the truly wondrous results story.

"You been listening to Radio 4 today?" We asked one of Microsoft UK's minders. "Yes, we've no idea what they're on about, but we phoned them up and told them to stop it." Which they now appear to have done.
