A Hampshire-based ISP is offering a one-way broadband satellite service for £14.99 a month.

SatDrive, based in Overton near Basingstoke, soft-launched the service a month or so ago.

It's designed for business users and those who work from home. According to SatDrive, the product is proving popular especially with hacked-off customers of BTopenworld's two-way broadband satellite service.

Based on a satellite service from Eutelsat, SatDrive is aimed at those people unable to access conventional broadband services such as xDSL or cable.

Anyone signing up for the service will also have to bear the cost of the upstream connection through their ISP. Installation and hardware costs for the SatDrive service start from £399.

Last week two outfits - Everywhere Broadband and Isonetric Broadband - confirmed their intention to provide one-way broadband satellite services. ®
