There's still a chance to spare small time webcasters from the axe, but hurry. The House votes on the Relief for Small-Business Webcasters Act (HR 5469), so today's the last day to make your views heard to your local Congressional representative.

If passed, HR 5469 would delay the introduction of punitive rates, set by the Library of Congress copyright committee's CARP panel, for six months. This would give the legal appeals time to be heard. So success tomorrow isn't the end of the story.

There are detailed instructions on how to approach your rep here, here, and there's a fax form here, if you're really lazy.

If the Bill - introduced by James Sensenbrenner, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee - fails, then the additional onerous new royalty payments take effect from October 20.

A more comprehensive answer to the music Pigopolists' demands, drafted by Rep Boucher, was discussed here earlier this summer .®
