Korean electronics giant Samsung Semiconductor Inc (SSI) confirmed yesterday that it had received a subpoena relating to the US Department of Justice's investigation into the global DRAM industry.

Samsung said it had been asked for "certain documents and other records related to DRAM products." Samsung said the subpoena "does not implicate SSI, and SSI is not a target of the investigation. In fact, SSI is in full compliance with US laws."

The company added it that it had taken action to preserve all required documents and other records, and would be cooperating with the DOJ in the investigation.

The DOJ's investigation emerged on Wednesday, when a number of other memory vendors revealed they had been contacted by the agency.
