Would you Adam and Eve it

Terra Lycos has started offering a subscription-based email service which it says should appeal to those who have "grown beyond free email services".

Lycos Mail Plus costs $19.95 a year and provides punters with 25MB of storage, a service free of banner ads and POP3 email access.

The Internet giant introduced this new service because, apparently, you've been asking for it.

It obviously has nothing to do with the fact that, like many Internet businesses, it's desperately trying to find new ways to generate revenue.

Anyhow, there's nothing new in this. In March Yahoo! said it would start charging $19.99 for its email forwarding and POP3 services. And in February email outfit, Another.com, started charging existing members £15 a year to use its Web-based email service. ®
