Rumours of the death of defacement archive Alldas.de are much exaggerated.

Although a posting on the site records that several members of its volunteer team (including founder Stefan Wagner) are leaving amid feelings of "total burnout and frustration", this doesn't mean that Alldas is quitting the hacking scene.

Remaining staff members are relaunching the Alldas.de Project as Alldas.org, giving it a more international feel, and hope to have the new site up and running by the start of next month.

Fredrik Ostergren, who's now the main man at Alldas.de, told us reports that it would become a specialist security site and stop mirroring Web page defacements are incorrect.

"The mirror process will continue, perhaps our message was a bit cryptic but hell, I won't see this great service die," he said.

Alldas.de began in 1998 with fewer than 50 visitors a day and has grown to 10,000 viewers every day. In that time its moved hosting on an old 486 PC to straining the resources of a dual 1GHz Box with 1GB RAM, and 4GB of disk space.

Incidents of Web page defacements have grown enormously during the time, making the job of recording hacking activity far more time consuming and promoting some of the volunteers to leave the project. ®
