ATI Technologies has issued guidance for Q1 ended 30 November, and points to increased revenue over the previous quarter and improved profitability.

ATI president Dave Orton said he was pleased with the company's core graphics and video business, as well as the "earnings contribution that has resulted from the very successful launch of Nintendo's GameCube", for which ATI developed the graphics technology.

"We look forward to a continued strong flow of royalties from sales of the GameCube console," he said.

On 4 October, when ATI announced its financial results for its Q4, it declined to provide guidance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2002 (the period ended 30 November), because it didn't know how September 11 would affect it.

ATI's full results for the first quarter will be announced 9 January 2002. ®
