Apple cancels Paris Expo

Blames post-WTC fears for visitor safety

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is not giving the keynote at next week's Apple Expo Paris because there isn't going to be an Apple Expo Paris.

Blaming last week's terrorist atrocities in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, the Mac maker this morning cancelled the event.

Apple says the safety of its users and developers are its primary concern, and under the circumstances, who should argue with that?

We think Apple's decision is understandable, but wrong. Getting back to work, back to 'normality', is part of the healing process.

In the aftermath of the Lockerbie disaster, travellers stayed at home in droves. Let's not succumb to fear this time. ®

Last week, VIA postponed the Munich instalment of its Technology Forum roadshow in the wake of the attack on the World Trade Center. The Forum was to have taken place on 13 and 14 September. VIA has not said when the event will be restaged. ®
