Punters change prices on Virgin Interactive site

Virgin Interactive has said it will not honour orders made on its Web site if consumers have altered the price of games software.

The statement comes after a vulture-eyed Reg reader (cheers for the tip Dan) discovered that a simple bit of cutting and pasting could allow punters to change the price of the console games on offer.

And he was right. We gave it a go. And it was easy. We could have ordered scores of Playstation and Dreamcast titles for next to nothing.

Okay, so Virgin Interactive reckons it would be able to sift through the orders and weed out any erroneous ones. But what a waste of time. And all because it can't be bothered to make sure its site is secure.

Indeed, when El Reg contacted Virgin Interactive they didn't seem all that concerned about the security lapse.

Nice to know that Sir Richard Branson's underlings are so relaxed about this kind of thing. We're sure he would approve. ®
