Internet Explorer 6 - one man's odyssey

A couple of readers saw fit to add their comments to Kieren McCarthy's article of IE6. The first comes from Steve Carter:

I generally would agree with your rather sceptical approach to this and all things MS. However, I am rather pleased I downloaded IE6. I would normally wait for a bugfixed version but having just had to format & reinstall everything I thought "What the hell" and went for it.

I am actually very impressed. Firstly that it installed so well. It has even kept my Google toolbar in place. It hasn't crashed yet which is very unusual.

I must disagree about the Image Toolbar. Mine came up fine and I don't have XP. It works very well and even allows me to take pictures off of a page that has restricted people from copying pictures from the page. (Whoops! I think they'll be unhappy about that.)

Overall, it works and it works a lot more reliably than previously. Ultimately, that is what I've been crying out for, for years. A window that works.

If XP is this much better then I'll be very pleased with it. I don't want bells and whistles just reliability.

I've just read your report on the fantastic and critial changes in IE6 from 5.5, and you missed out one of the major ones.

The icon on the desktop has changed colour to a slightly lighter blue.

I'll let you off this time, but don't let it happen again.
