Internet World Tele2 is to expand its broadband wireless network
over the next 12 weeks, the operator announced at
Internet World.

Its wireless broadband service is currently available
in Reading, Nottingham, Leicester, Bradford, Leeds,
Bracknell and Wokingham but it intends to roll-out its
service in Birmingham, Coventry, Sheffield, Bristol,
Bath, Newbury and Slough during the summer.

The telco intends to provide network coverage to 65
per cent of UK population by 2003. More importantly,
though, it can focus on areas and regions served
poorly by DSL and cable broadband networks.

It reckons that doubling the size of its UK network
can help plug the growing gap between broadband supply and demand.

Elliot Mueller, CEO of Tele2 UK,reckons wireless
broadband is a sound alternative to the current
"unavailability of competitively priced broadband Internet services" in the UK. ®
