Word has reached Vulture Central that the cull at Tiscali's UK operation is about to get underway.

In fact, these things can happen so quickly it may have already got underway. No matter.

The important this is that employees of WorldOnline, LibertySurf and LineOne have already had meetings with their prospective bosses this week about their futures and are due to have a follow-up meeting.

It's at this second meeting that employees will find out if they have a future with the new company or not.

El Reg understands that those involved will face three options:

* Bugger off. Take our extremely generous redundancy package (three months salary tax free we've heard) and sling yer 'ook.
* You can stay. The bad news is we're demoting you. Less kudos and even less cash. Take it or leave it (resign).
* Think yourself lucky. You can stay in your current job on the same salary. Now show your gratitude.

According to sources Tiscali is looking to lose some 300 jobs in the UK as it merges three ISPs into one.

Tiscali has admitted that it will suffer job losses but has denied that as many as 300 will be for the chop. ®
