Microsoft PocketPC racks up 1m sales in first year

Well, it seems that Mark Pinson doesn't like the cut of our jib regarding Microsoft:

"The Register" should just have the BALLS to come right out and say "The Register Hates Microsoft". Had a Linux OS based PDA reached those numbers you would have put a completely different "SPIN" on the report. Hailing it as catching up to Palm.

How come "The Register" is SLIM on negative Linux articles? Are you afraid to lose your Slashdot audience? Or perhaps "The Register" deems anything from Microsoft or Apple as being uncool to say anything good about it? Where are the stories about Corel's difficulty in offloading it's Linux effort?

Or any of the other numerous security problems in Linux or Unix? Perhaps you did do an article on the FAILURE of Eazel but it didn't stay on your front page long nor did it get rotated back to the front page like so many Windows XP crack articles did. I mean after all they (Eazel) went through a few million in capitol and the only thing I ever say was a questionable beta file manager. How about some reporting on that?

I am neither anti Linux or pro MS. I am simply a technology enthusiast who would prefer the FACTS.

As a whole I like the stories "The Register" publishes but I could really do without the tabloid spin. Or perhaps "The Register" could try its hand at unbiased reporting!?!

This is not the first time that we've been accused of bias. Unfortunately, were we to collate these allegations, we would find ourselves biased in favour of absolutely everybody while, paradoxically, mercilessly slamming all of them simultaneously.

It's time to set the record straight. We are:

• Contraindicated
• Counterproductive
• Unreconstructed
• Semi-skimmed
• Pro-celebrity golf

Now, let that be an end to it.
