Updated UK reseller Westcoast has lost its MD Paul Cook after just two years.

Andy Dow, Westcoast commercial director, confirmed Cook left the Reading outfit today.

According to Dow, the departure was "totally amicable and totally mutual".

The reseller has not found a replacement for Cook, and has no plans to appoint one. His MD job will be handled by the existing "strong management" at Westcoast.

So where is Cook going? At the moment he's "on holiday, out in the Med," was all Dow would reveal.

A call today to his former employer, Computer 2000 - from where he was poached by Westcoast in 1999 - prompted only a denial that he was returning to the Basingstoke distributor's fold.

In related news, Dane-Elec today confirmed it had sacked its UK general manager Alan Stanley, and said it was currently interviewing replacements.

According to Nessim Bodokh, CEO of Dane-Elec worldwide, five people are being vetted for the job.

Stanley, who helped start the DRAM distributor in the UK nine years ago, was sacked earlier this week. Bodokh said the company would be run from France until a new manager was appointed.

When The Reg ventured to ask when this might be, Bodokh replied: "When I find one." ®
