DCC, the Irish distie conglomerate, saw revenues for Sercom, its IT wholesaling divisio,n grow 39 per cent to €753.9m in 2000:(1999: €542.3m). Profits were up 52.5 per cent from €20.5m to €31.2m, while operating margins moved up a couple of points from 3.8 per cent to 4.1 per cent.

Sercom Distribution has four operating businesses:
Distrilogie, a value-added high-end storage equipment distie based in France; Sharptext, of Ireland, and Micro Peripherals of the UK, two mass market IT hardware disties; and Gem, the UK consumer software specialist.

DCC reports an "excellent" first full year contribution from Distrilogie, while the British hardware distribution business "continued to produce excellent results in a highly competitive marketplace".

Meanwhile, the British software distribution business benefited from its "focused strategy of specialising in consumer software distribution and generated excellent profit growth".

During the year, Sercom increased UK warehousing capacity by 2.5 times. Bigger warehousing, which came on stream last year in Ireland paid dividends, "resulting in excellent growth during the year". ®
