Tiny Computers claims that it is the victim of a dirty tricks campaign suggesting its computer retail chain is in trading difficulties.

The company flatly denies all the allegations, circulating in an orchestrated email campaign to staff, suppliers, competitors and the press,
about impending store closures and redundancies.

The supposedly detailed information claims that 37 stores will be shut over the next five weeks with possibly more than 100 job losses.

Tiny says the claims are ridiculous and the work of a rival business trying to draw attention away from its own problems. "There is not going to be one store closure or redundancy," said PR manager Alison Boswell.

The company now has to calm down upset employees who have been quizzed by journalists from local papers about the malicious rumours.

The emails have included such statements as: "Extremely tough trading conditions at Tiny force the company to close stand-alone sites and relocate within Scottish Power. Sales force to be cut."

"37 stores over the next 5 weeks. 2 / 3 staff from each store to go." ®
