Scottish ISP, Madasafish, has kicked off up to 200 Net users for "abusing" the service.

A spokesman for the outfit said it took the action because those identified were hogging it so much they were causing the service to deteriorate.

He said that this wasn't fair for the majority of users of its 24/7 Net access service.

In an email sent to those hit Madasafish suggests that punters subscribe to an always-on ADSL service.

Madasafish joins a long list of ISPs including Totalise and PlusNet which booted off users for similar reasons.

Speaking of PlusNet, it has delayed the launch of its new flat-fee unmetered Net access service until the end of May.

It's understood the new service based on the wholesale unmetered Net access product, FRIACO, was due to be launched at the end of March.

In an email to users PlusNet said: "We recently have made a number of announcements regarding our intention to move to FRIACO-based services.

"We would ask therefore that you disregard any correspondence you may have received over the past month or so from us regarding this," it said.

Consider it disregarded. ®
