Intel has kicked off a scheme aimed at snaring the world's Application Service Providers.

The Intel Online Services ASP Accelerator Program is aimed at ASPs that want some help with their marketing.

In return for ASPs hosting their applications on Intel's AppChoice Managed Hosting Service, they get marketing tools, such as joint funds, and a mention on Intel's Website.

They can use the chip giant's brochures and marketing tools when trying to grab customers, and Intel will also give them lists of companies to work with, such as Web developers, and help introduce them to potential customers.

The ASPs do not have to pay to join, but they do have to sign up for AppChoice to host their applications. More than 40 ASPs are already in the scheme, including Captura, MedSpecialists and Webversa.

Intel said the scheme included Europe, which will be interesting. A recent survey found that 40 per cent of European IT directors didn't even know what the term ASP meant. ®
